Saint Thomas Aquinas University Parish is honored to host the major relics of Saint Thomas Aquinas on Monday, December 2, 2024, in a special event marking the 750th anniversary of the death of Saint Thomas Aquinas, one of the Catholic Church’s most revered theologians. Pilgrims who visit the relics may receive a plenary indulgence for their pilgrimage to a holy site associated with the Order of Preachers, under the usual conditions.
Event Schedule and Highlights
Public Veneration of the Relics
The relics of Saint Thomas Aquinas will be available for public veneration* in the Our Lady of Perpetual Help chapel following the 8:00 a.m. Daily Mass until 7:00 p.m. At 7:00 p.m., the relics will be brought in a solemn procession to the church for Awaken Wisdom.
*Because it is necessary for the relics to be attended at all times, we are asking those who are able to sign up for 30 minute shifts. In order to make prayer time more fruitful, a booklet of Aquinas’ prayers and reflections will be provided for those who would like some guidance. Click below to sign up.
Confessions
Confessions will be available from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. to offer pilgrims to fulfill the usual conditions for a plenary indulgence.
Awaken Wisdom: An Advent Evening of Adoration and Choral Reflection
This special service will feature Choral Vespers and the Eucharistic hymns of Saint Thomas Aquinas, inviting attendees to begin their Advent Season with prayer and reflection. The relics will be available for veneration after the service.
Following *Awaken Wisdom*, all are invited to a festive reception in St. Thomas Hall. Guests can enjoy a hot chocolate toppings bar and an assortment of holiday treats as we continue the evening in fellowship and celebration.
