How the Church Reads Scripture.” This session will sample approaches to the Bible by St. Augustine, St. Jerome, and Origen, as well as introducing the medieval notion of the “four senses” of scripture and continuing to mull how that history can help readers in the church’s unique current situation. The presenter, Dr. John Bugbee, will be live in Holy Comforter’s basement with a video-conference link to Roanoke’s Basilica of St. Andrew.
