Over the past 20 years, Social Outreach at Holy Comforter Church has been providing food for area families. The generous donations of the parish members help to provide food and toiletries to these area families in need. Holy Comforter’s Food Pantry distributes an average of 350 pantry bags each month. Food includes donations from St. Thomas Aquinas Church, Food Lion, Kroger grocery stores, along with free and purchased food from the Blue Ridge Area Food Bank. Our Food Pantry is also the happy recipients of food drives from area organizations. All of these donations help the Food Pantry provide meat, canned goods, produce, bread and bakery to families in need.

Thursday | 12:00PM to 1:00PM |
Historically, each Thursday at about 10am our Soup Kitchen volunteers gather to prepare a main dish, soup, sandwiches, salads and desserts for more than 100 recipients, from noon until 1pm. Holy Comforter’s Soup Kitchen has served lunch for more than 25 years, and has gained many “partners” who make our lunch possible. These partners include Congregation Beth Israel and Son’s of Widows Masonic Lodge and many other wonderful and caring people.
