But the LORD answered me, Say not, “I am too young.” To whomever I send you, you shall go; whatever I command you, you shall speak. ~Jeremiah 1:7
In his 1995 World Youth Day address, Pope John Paul II emphasized the importance of youth ministry. “What is needed today is a Church which knows how to respond to the expectations of young people. Jesus wants to enter into dialogue with them and, through his body which is the Church, to propose the possibility of a choice which will require a commitment of their lives.” Our vision of youth ministry at St. Ann Church comes from the document Renewing the Vision: A Framework for Catholic Youth Ministry, formed by the United States Bishops Conference. St. Ann’s Youth Ministry seeks to provide teens with an opportunity to grow in a deep relationship with Christ and respond to his love by following Him as disciples through service, prayer, and fellowship.

Fellowship
High School (SR CYM) – During the school year teens are invited to come together every Tuesday night from 7:00-9:00PM in the “Teen Room” (room 132, lower level of the church). This is an opportunity for teens to spend time with one another, have fun, and learn about their faith.
Middle School (JR CYM) – Middle School students are expected to participate in Religious Education classes on Sunday. In addition, they are invited to spend time together once a week on Sunday nights from 7:30-9:00 PM. During this time they will grow in community with one another through social games and activities.
Social Events – Throughout the month, the teens have exciting events that they can do as a group of friends such as Rally 2010, swing dancing, laser tag, rock climbing, hiking, etc.
Prayer
Teen Mass – Every first Sunday, there is a Teen Mass at 5:00PM in the small Chapel. Teens actively participate by being lectors, music musicians, and ushers. Celebrating the Eucharist together is the best way to build community.
Adoration – Teens are encouraged to spend time individual before the Blessed Sacrament. There is Adoration in the small Chapel after the 8:30 Mass on Fridays through 7:30 PM.
Retreats – What a great way to get away and reflect on life and God! There are many opportunities to go on a retreat during the year.

Service
Group Service – Every third Wednesday, the teens will serve the community as a group. In addition to group service, every teen has access to information for individual service in the community through the Coordinator of Youth Ministry.
WorkCamp – One of the best opportunities available to high school teens is WorkCamp. WorkCamp is a week-long service project coordinated by the Diocese of Arlington’s Office of Youth Ministry that takes place every summer. Through this experience, high school youth have an opportunity to put their faith into action and to serve within our own Diocese. Teens always return with a renewed faith, great stories, and friends.
Individual Service – As Catholics, we are all called to go out of our comfort zone and serve those in need.
